Collingwood Collective Activity Guidelines


During

Group Rides, Practices, Club Activities and all other CCR rides


CCR Membership and Ontario Cycling (OC) membership or membership in OC affiliated club 

(1 guest ride per season with OC membership-reach out to CCR to plan a guest ride)


Functional bicycle suited for the type of ride planned with two functional brakes

Bike must be in good repair

Helmets are mandatory and must be worn done up at all times.

Water and food sufficient for the ride

Cell Phone and ID

Layered Clothing appropriate for the weather

Materials and capability to repair flats or make minor repair

Have a ride buddy that will stick with you for the duration of the planned activity

Inform an emergency contact of your planned activity and have a plan for pickup if needed

Be aware of the nearest medical centre

Be familiar with concussion risk protocols 

  

What you need to know


Basic riding skills and the ability to ride for the amount of time planned (usually 1.5-3hrs)

Basic understanding of group riding techniques 

Who the ride leader is and whether or not it is appropriate for you and your ability level

The planned start and finish location

The weather forecast for the day and be 


When on the road we must 

Be comfortable Riding double, Tight and to the Right, Pace Lines

Be familiar with our Risk Management Plan (see our website)


When on trail we must

Provide adequate space between riders to stop safely

Listen to ride leaders to anticipate possible challenges on trail

Look, Stop, Analyze, Visualise and Session new features

Stop and walk unsafe, unrideable sections of trails

Respect the rules of trail centres and public trails

Slow and safely pass other trail users

Yield to uphill trail users

Look and scan trail watching for hazards


When riding, all CCR members become ambassadors of our sponsors and our club. As such we must minimise and problematic behaviour on both the road and trail. We must respect, accommodate and thank other trail and road users as appropriate. We will not crowd or disrespect other trail users of any kind.
