New for 2024 this 10 week program is designed to support athletes who want to become more involved in mountain bike racing and develop their skills. This program combines skill development with an eye on racing and group riding skill advancement.


This program is suitable for enthusiastic riders with at least two years of trail riding experience. This program will provide a gateway to local low key organised bike racing along while making new friends riding bikes. There is no expectation to compete in races below however, those who want to race more will have an open invitation to do more events outside of this program. It is possbile to enroll in this program and NOT race.


What to expect?

Focus on fun and a quality experience with group size of 3-7, minimum of two instructors per group with at least one experienced adult coach supporting each group. 


Please note that participants ages 6-8 will be grouped together. Other grouping will be based on ability and coach assessments. Collingwood Collective has hired experienced trained coaches to support this program. Expect to see the same faces each week.


45 minutes of skill development followed by a 45 minute group ride. Frequent stops to focus on skills, session a feature and chat about race prep.

Program Cost - $275 - Including a CCR MTB Jersey (Guaranteed only if you register by April 6th) ($85 Value)

Mandatory - Ontario Cycling Membership - $44 - $52

This licence covers your insurance for both our program and Ontario Cycling sanctioned races, including all Ontario Cup Races and the Hardwood Ski and Bike Wednesday series. This licence must be purchased prior to participating in any CCR programming.

Entry to two Hardwood Ski and Bike Races ~ $16 x 2 - or sign up for the series, + $4 for reusable Race Plate (1 Time fee)  -  Deadline to register by the day before the race
(athletes MUST pre register to be able to race, athletes may attend the practice session and choose not to race but still must purchase a trail pass, trail pass cost is ~$15)

PROGRAM STRUCTURE (4 Parts)


Part 1 - Ready to race skills nights

3 sessions leading into midweek racing 

Location - Highlands Nordic (*Mansfield Outdoor Centre on rain days) 

Monday Nights

April 29, May 6th, May 13 - 6-7:30pm


Part 2 - Wednesday Night at Hardwood pre race skills 

2 sessions prior to a midweek race at Hardwood Ski and Bike (~45-60 min drive from the Collingwood Area)

Wednesday nights - May 15, May 22 

15-20 min break - find your family - bathroom, small snack, drink

*Hardwood session groups will be determined once attendance is taken at 5:30pm

**The Hardwood series continues for the entire summer and available athletes are encouraged to participate in this fun series with their friends as available, CCR athletes will be present most Wednesday nights


Part 3 Ontario Cup Weekend - Highlands Nordic June 29/30


*Pre ride race skills session at Highlands - June 29 1:30pm - 3:30pm with a focus on O Cup Course (note athletes can come early to watch their coaches compete in the short track race)


*June 30 attend race, race hard, have fun, stay and cheer for the other races

*Athletes are encouraged to participate in the MOC Ontario Cup and Highlands Ontario Cup June 30th, separate registration details will be sent out to support this.


All program participants are automatically part of the youth skills development program Running at Highlands on Mondays May 27th through to June 24th. Group formation will be subject to change. Focus of these nights will be on skill development with friends with minimal race focus.


Part 4

Ready to Race Program will combine with 

Kids on bikes on Monday nights - ages 6-13 - May 27th - June 24th
